Text saved in the submitter bio is augmented with backslashes to escape some characters. For example "He's" becomes "He\'s". Each time the bio is saved additional backslashes are added so "He\'s" then becomes "He\\'s". All of these backslashes eventually show up in the rendered bio so it looks screwed up. Worse, Html content like links are broken by these additional backslashes so a link like: <a href='http://www.eclipse.org/eclipselink'> can be turned into: <a href=\\\\\\\'http://www.eclipse.org/eclipselink\\\\\\\'> which is eventually rendered as a file:// link. I don't understand that part but it is probably the renderer trying to make sense of all those backslashes.
I tried to work around by pasting well formed Html in to the EclipseCon submission system and text like "He's" renders okay but links are broken after saving.
Nope, the work around doesn't work. After saving, the rendered text looks okay (so I thought it was working) but on other pages with the bio and when you navigate back to the Submitter's page the text is messed up.
Thanks, Shaun. I'm not sure how this affects how the text is rendered on the website schedule, but we'll look into it. BTW, you can file bugs about the submission system specifically under Technology -- Dash -- Submission System.
Moving to the submission system. I agree this is annoying.
