Once the patch for 302121 is committed, the details format in the details pane stays emtpy for children of dynamic varobjs.

The reason is that -data-evaluate-expression fails, because there is no full expression for such varobjs that gdb could evaluate successfully.

The approach for a workaround could be not to call -data-evaluate-expression, but re-implement what gdb is doing in this command in DSF GDB.
