It would be very useful (and may save some support time) if job configurations can be viewed (obviously with restrictions) even if the viewer cannot modify them.

At the moment only jobs I can configure myself are viewable. I cannot see the configurations of other jobs.
If I could see them, it would be a great service and help in configuring my own jobs.

Many little problems can be solved by seeing an example -- support overhead might be reduced thereby.

Perhaps job owners should choose whether to make the job configuration visible. Admin can put up an 'exemplary' job configuration (or two) to demonstrate how it should be done.

I've added the 'ExtendedRead' plugin(to our new Hudson instance) which enables this feature, and granted it to all Eclipse committers.
