I'm trying to upgrade my BIRT version to BIRT 2.6 from BIRT 2.5.1.

During the upgrade I've noticed some changes in the default values for some font sizes.

In BIRT 2.5.1 the font sizes used by small/medium/large are 7.5/9/11 pt respectively, but BIRT 2.6 is showing the contents in 10/12/14.5 pt respectively.

This is causing a major issue for my upgrade to new version. The look and feel of most of my reports are changed because of this.

During my study of the issue I've posted a query in Birt Exchange Forum(http://www.birt-exchange.org/org/forum/index.php/topic/20206-font-size-issue-while-upgrading-to-birt-2-6/) and it pointed to a already posted bug related to this issue(https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=319815). But this bug was marked as Invalid and closed.

Based on this response to the bug the solutions for a report developer is either to make required font size changes in the source code and rebuild BIRT or stop usage of the relative sizes like small/medium/large.

Both these approaches does not seems to be very much practical. 
The first approach of rebuilding BIRT has to be done during every new upgrade of BIRT like 2.6.1, 2.6.2 etc.
The second approach required me to make required changes in all my reports which runs into huge number.

Can you suggest a better workaround or solution to this problem.

Thank you for the information concerning "Font size intervals" .
But:
You said: BIRT changes the default size for small in 2.6 to sync with the modern browser.
Where and when, in Birt 2.6 documentation , these important changes have been notified?

And now for something completely different... Default font size used in BIRT styles was changed between BIRT 2.6 and 2.6.2. Default font size in BIRT 2.6 was Medium (e.g. 12 points). Default font size in BIRT 2.6.2 is 10 points. Plus -  there are changes in cell padding.
