The 'Errors/Warnings' page should allow to filter a category for a value, e.g. 
~warn code style
code style ~error

I think it would be benefitial to enable filtering of Errors/Warnings by project. Right now I imported a opensource project ( the Piccolo XML parser ) that causes hundreds of warnings, hiding away from me the important ones.

I think this comment is not related to this bug and you're talking about the Problems view (which allows filtering).

it allows filtering, but not filtering by project, e.g. it does not allow to exclude certain projects, does it?

You can use working sets or restrict it to the project containing the current element. Please ask questions on the newsgroup and not via bugzilla.
