Description Chris Beams CLA 2010-08-04 16:40:35 EDT
Creating this issue per request from Steffen in bug 204762.

Environment:

* STS 2.3.3.M1
* Mylyn 3.4
* OS X - Cocoa

Repro steps:

1) Deselect 'Hide Completed Tasks'
2) Check 'Group Subtasks'
3) Create a new Task query that matches the information in the attached snapshot.
4) Mark all issues as read
5) Collapse the task query folder
6) Notice the blue arrow indicating incoming issues appears
7) Expand the task query folder
8) Notice the blue arrow indicating incoming issues disappears
9) Uncheck 'Group Subtasks'
10) Collapse the task query folder once again
11) Notice the blue arrow indicating incoming issues does *not* reappear.

Expected behavior:

blue arrow should never appear unless there are actually incoming changes

Observations:

It appears the issue has something to do with grouped subtasks. The following is Steffen's comment from the above mentioned issue:

Chris, that sounds like it is related to the presentation rather than the
synchronization mechanism. I think some of the logic only looks one level deep
when decorating incoming arrows (depending on the selected options) which could
cause the inconsistencies that you have observed.

Thanks for the detailed steps Chris. The Task List content provider is in need a refactoring and we should look at this problem as part of bug 248377.

Mylyn has been restructured, and our issue tracking has moved to GitHub [1].

We are closing ~14K Bugzilla issues to give the new team a fresh start. If you feel that this issue is still relevant, please create a new one on GitHub.
