Description Raksha Vasisht CLA 2010-08-04 08:54:05 EDT
I20100802-1800

Steps:

1) Right click on any existing test suite and open 'Recreate Test Suite' dialog
-> The same test suite is seen in the list and when selected shows a warning :
'Adding suite to itself may result in StackOverflowError'

=> The selected test suite should not be added to the list (or I dint catch the requirement for this).

It also happens in the New JUnit Test Suite that all test suites are also added to the list and when there already exists a test suite with the same name in the selected package:

Warning: Adding a test suite as a test case in itself will result in infinite recursion and StackOverflowError

=> Since the New Test Suite wizard can be used to edit a test suite, the suite with the same name should not be added to the list (or atleast not checked by default)

I'm not sure how easy it is to update the list dynamically based on the name of the new suite (add the rest of the suites but not itself), but the warning definitely does not look good and it is a pain to uncheck it everytime.

I agree, it doesn't make sense to allow including a test suite in itself.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
