Description oliver.burkhalter CLA 2010-07-30 07:58:58 EDT
Build Identifier: 20100617-1415

If I want to create a new task, I can right click on a task-query in the task-list, I can choose the menu point "New...>Task...". If I do this, a new dialog appears which wants to know in which repository and later on in which project I want to create my new task. But actually if I click directly on a task-query, Mylyn could guess already that this will be in the same repository and project in which I have done the task-query.

So it would be nice, if these two steps would be done automatically from Mylyn. That mean: I right click(context-menu) on "New...>Task.." and then it already opens a new task editor window, where I can enter the task title, description, etc. and the repository and project will be selected automatically from Mylyn.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open task-list
2. Create a task-query from a repository
3. Right click(open context-menu) on the task-query itself and choose "New..>Task.."
4. Enter the task specific datas

If you select New Task on a query the repository and other details that correspond to the query will be pre-selected. If you want to skip the wizard you can use the drop-down besides the New Task button in the toolbar of the Task List.

I can see however that it would be useful to have one click task creation from a query that does not require any further selection or interaction with dialogs. I'll put this on the backlog and we'll consider it for future planning.

As I can see, the functionality is already implemented in the drop down. And it just needs to be invoked from the context menu.

The Uber-solution would be to have a "New Task" solution in the context menu of the query to save one click.
