OS: Linux SuSE 10.2

Does it still crash if you right click and select "Open With..." -> "Text Editor"?

On my system double clicking a .pl file opens in the system editor (gedit in my case)

I tested this with Eclipse 4.3 on Ubuntu 12.04 and Eclipse doesn't crash for me (the file with a different extension opens in an external editor - gedit).

I'm closing the bug as WORKSFORME. Please feel free to reopen it if you are able to reproduce this crash on a recent Linux distro with the latest Eclipse version.
