We tried building the RCPs for the 1.0.1 service release with 3.6 and at the same time change the build technology. The 1.0 RCPs on the download site are build agains 3.5. 
All changes at once are too risky for a service release I think, and we have already seen some problems. Therefore in the dedicated maintenance branch 1.0.x I would like to revert the dependencies back to the 3.5 ones and use the "old" build we used to provide the download artifacts for the 1.0 release.

With change 867 I was able to get our internal build produce again the working RCPs based on 3.5.
