Description Steve Powell CLA 2010-07-23 04:06:17 EDT
Enter search terms 'platform placeholder variables template'; and one of the early results is:

Eclipse Community Forums
31 Jul 2006 ... Windows Environment Variables, too and it would help. ... The bottom right view starts as being a placeholder so that area is grayed out. ..... How can I build eclipse R3_2 Platform on Windows(please help me! ... template) file in the project, and creates also 3 folders (Output/Lib/Source). ...
www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?&t=selmsg&rid=74614...

which clearly references the word placeholder, and is tantalisingly close to what I wanted.

It links to:

http://www.eclipse.org/forums/index.php?&t=selmsg&rid=74614&mr=1&reply_count=0&start=2680

but the resulting page(s) do not contain the word 'placeholder' at all.

The problem here is that Google indexed a list of threads messages based on some criteria. Since then, the message no longer belongs there but the index is stale.

We need to prevent Google from indexing lists of messages, such as Today's Messages, Unread Messages and Unanswered Messages

The ultimate solution would be to use the Forum's built-in search engine, but it simply does not scale to the number of messages and the volume of users we have.

That should be easily doable via robots.txt, right? At least, in theory... :-/

Steve, I'm not sure why you closed this as WONTFIX...

Yes, it should be possible.
