Installing EGIT on Helios appear not to work – the only evidence that is is installed is its listing in the installed plugins

No menu items, no properties, no recognition of Git in existing projects...

Worked fine on previous versions of Eclipse

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install EGit+JGit 0.8.4 from - http://download.eclipse.org/releases/helios
2.restart eclipse when prompted

What jgit and egit plugin and feature versions are listed in Eclipse > About Eclipse > Installation Details. You should have

Features :
- org.eclipse.egit 0.8.4
- org.eclipse.jgit 0.8.4

Plugins :
- org.eclipse.egit.ui 0.8.4
- org.eclipse.egit.core 0.8.4
- org.eclipse.egit.doc 0.8.4
- org.eclipse.egit 0.8.4
- org.eclipse.jgit 0.8.4

Could you also try with nightly build ?
