Description Eric Moffatt CLA 2010-07-15 14:04:45 EDT
Resizing the shell (specifically by dragging the left side) causes a lot of 'jitter' on the right edge of the shell...

I've worked with Silenio on this and about the only optimization we could see was to remove the calls to 'setRedraw' in the layouts.

Boris suggested that we also move non-visible Perspectives to the 'limbo' shell so that they won't participate in the visible shell's layout code.

It still jitters a lot but as far as we can tell it's the best we can do at the moment. This is apparently an issue for *all* windows, we tried resizing IE6, FireFox and some other apps and they all show some jitter with this operation.

The performance issue is likely related to using nested SashForm widgets to get the sash behavior, we should certainly look into moving to Tom's 'no sashes' approach after we release...

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
