Accoring to your wiki we should select git+ssh to push to other repos http://wiki.eclipse.org/EGit/User_Guide#Pushing_to_other_Repositories If I enter for example git+ssh://git@github.com:vogella/de.vogella.git.github.git I receive on the next page a NPE.
Cannot reproduce with your steps. Sorry, copied the wrong stacktrace. My NPE is the same as Benjamins. @Benjamin: I'm using EGit 0.9.
I tried it with my own github repos and now it works. Also the documentation you mention has been changed - I don't think we recommend anymore the URL you mention. Your URL "git+ssh://git@github.com:vogella/de.vogella.git.github.git" looks wrong because after the colon doesn't come a port number but your name. So, either this ssh specific address "git@github.com:vogella/de.vogella.git.github.git" or the standard url "ssh://git@github.com/vogella/de.vogella.git.github.git", but not a mixture. I tried to reproduce the NPE when I manually remove the first character - but I only get a "non-authenticated" message. Please retry this, I think it is fixed by now.
