Description Diego lcántara CLA 2010-06-30 13:19:08 EDT
In the Console output, when a reference to some file with LineNumber (for instance MyClass.java:48) is clicked, the IDE searchs for the first open file in the Workspace with that name, despite there may be several open Projects with the same File.

For instance,
Lets say there are 2 projects: "Project A" and "Project B"
I run a jUnit for "Project B" that logs to the console with log4j
Log4J prints one line: "DEBUG (MyClass.java:48) - XXXXXX"

When I click on the link, Eclipse redirects me to "Project A"'s version of MyClass.java. instead to "Project B"'s version of that file.

Best Regards,

This also happened with Eclipse 3.4 and 3.5

Not sure what component this should be assigned to, but it's surely not APT :-)

JDT UI guys, do you know?

Debug owns the console.

I'm thinking that in the case of the links in the console (as the one I gave in the example), a good behaviour would be that when clicked (the link), in case there be more than one file with the same file name (more than one MyClass.java in the same project, meaning in differents packages of the same Project) it should give the option to allow the user choose which file he wants.

Comment 6 Eclipse Genie CLA 2019-10-19 17:41:35 EDT
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
