The p2 director is a command line tool that is used to perform installs and updates without running the application. It is documented in org.eclipse.platform.doc.isv/guide/p2_director.html.

I don't know if you would translate this term, but I suspect it is better not to. For example the application id has the english term so translation might make that confusing. To launch the director the user does the following from the command line:

eclipse -application org.eclipse.equinox.p2.director
