We have setup nightly tests for the Mylyn project on mylyn.eclipse.org. These tests run against various Bugzilla and Trac versions and also execute Eclipse UI tests. On a local machine with lots of memory a full run typically takes around 20 minutes. On mylyn.eclipse.org the same suite runs for almost two hours. The server currently has 512 MB of physical memory and allocates another 512 MB as swap during test execution. I believe tests would run much faster if the Eclipse instance executing tests and the Bugzilla/Trac instances would fit in memory at the same time. Would it be possible to bump the available memory to 1 GB? Alternatively we could move the Hudson jobs to other servers and just keep the repositories on mylyn.eclipse.org. I would guess though that the impact on Eclipse.org infrastructure (e.g. network I/O) is lowest if tests run on the same machine as repositories. Thanks for your consideration.
Sorry for the delay. Right now the best I can do is an extra 256M, as that's the space we have left. -M.
Thanks a lot! That would certainly help.
I've update the config. When is a good time to restart your vserver? -M.
Please feel free to restart it at any time.
I've restarted the vserver. -M.
