Build Identifier: 20100218-1602 I would like to raise out an enhancement request that user has an options to choose whether all detached views pop up or not when user clicks on only one of the detached view or main windows. In many use cases of eclipse IDE in multiple monitors, developer often uses detached views to expand the "IDE region" to different monitors. E.g. 1st monitor has the main editor and 2nd monitor has the detached views with Console, Package Explorers, Problems. Also, developer often open a separate web-browser (e.g. chrome) or document reader (e.g. pdf reader) to read some contents in 2nd monitor. There will be a problem that those detached views overlap other application windows when developer works on the IDE main window. Therefore, developer cannot work on IDE and read the browser at the same time. Actually, I would like to see that Eclipse IDE can combine the docking mode and the multi-window mode (like gimp). Thanks Reproducible: Always
Hmm, it might be time to re-visit this now that we have Eclipse 4...
This enhancement request is still valid for Eclipse Luna I20140606-1215. Right now, as soon as you click on the main window or on any detached window, all the Eclipse windows are brought to front.
Also, I was not able to find any option to change this behaviour.
I think bug 334331 gives a more comprehensive idea on what detached windows management may look like. See bug #334331 comment #8. So I think this may be closed as a duplicate.
Thanks Mauro for the analysis. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 334331 ***
