We had a cdt.eclipse.org but shut it down a few years ago. I'd like to revive it so we can set up a test Gerrit server for the CDT. We want to do some training with it now, and if there isn't a common one, we'd eventually take this live when we move to git for real in the fall.
Doug, I think at the moment we don't have any available slots for project vservers. In any case, the Foundation is not comfortable with Gerrit yet, since there may be repercussions on our development process and IP process, and there are definitely considerations for myself as the IT guy. The egit/jgit projects got our OK to use it on their vserver to allow us to observe its functionality. Frankly most of us are quite impressed with Gerrit, but we want to make sure we have our ducks all in a row before deploying it. Bug 283749 requests Gerrit for Git repos on git.eclipse.org -- if you want to use Gerrit, that is your best bet.
That's quite disappointing. The idea is for the CDT team to use it as a test/evaluation service before leading up to a move to git in September. If we miss Sept, then it slips to June and we lose the advantages of git/gerrit for Indigo. How safe a bit is waiting on 283749? The lack of progress doesn't look promising.
You don't need Gerrit to use Git, and if we implement Gerrit, its usage by projects won't be mandatory. As far as I'm concerned, you can move to Git this summer and begin using Gerrit at any moment in the dev cycle. It's not that intrusive, really. > How safe a bit is waiting on 283749? I'll update the bug to indicate it's on my list for Q3.
I'm not sure we want to use git without Gerrit. Our focus is on improving our code review process and Gerrit is such a home run there. We'll have to rethink if git without Gerrit is enough to move.
Doug, do you still want/need cdt.eclipse.org ? We have some slots available.
We do have our genie process that could run here. Let me talk it over with the person managing it and see if we should move it over.
Is this still an option? We have some requirements to run JUnits against various versions of gdb. Along with the Genie that logs git commits into Bugzilla. And then it would be great if we could have our own instance of Hudson. Let me know. Thanks!
Yep. I'm not sure if we still have the original image for cdt.eclipse.org, but in any case, it's likely super old. We can craft you a new one with these specs: - 2 or 4 cpu cores - Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 0 @ 2.00GHz - 4GB RAM - 40 GB disk space - SLES 11 SP2 If that makes sense, I can provision it by Monday.

Most excellent. Make it so. We're probably OK with two cores, unless you got extras :). Thanks! D
Doug, can you email me a public key for SSH access? Or shall I just abuse my r00tness and use your public key on git.eclipse.org?
Feel free to abuse :)
Your vserver is alive, and you should already have an email with details on how to access it. Please reopen if you cannot access it.
Got it. I'm in. Thanks!
