It would be very useful to be able to perform a text dump of a trace, preferably in the same format as LTTv.

First, this would be part of the feature parity effort with LTTv.

Second, and quite important, this could be used to validate the parsing of the traces and ensure that the same events are presented in the same order to both tools.

This bug was for Legacy LTTng which is being removed in Linux Tools 2.0.
