It should be possible to disable the debugger tab for non-debug jobs.
It would be nice if the controls on this tab were disabled for a run configuration and enabled for a debug configuration and a debug launch was only allowed when the tab had been configured correctly.

(In reply to comment #2) > *** Bug 320592 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Sorry for overlooking this. What do you think about the idea to build sdm for the most common platforms (e.g. linux x32/x64/ppc + aix/ppc) and automatically upload it. Should I open a new bug for this? (Since the main part of doing this is the build, it would have to be done by someone with build server access - so I can't volunteer to just quickly do it)
Open a bug on it. It's a bit of a logistical headache, and we'd need volunteers to maintain the different platforms, but worth thinking about. We used to distribute proxy binaries, but that was a nightmare due to different API and O/S version combinations. The SDM doesn't use anything except standard O/S interfaces, so it should be relatively more portable.
The main problem has been fixed. You should only see the debug-related tabs when you choose a debug rather than run configuration. Al
Sorry. That fix was for 5.0. This has not been ported back to 4.0.
I am closing this bug. It's a "wontfix" for 4.0, but has been fixed in 5.0.
