I'm not sure if it's already there but in CDT "Open Type" is replaced with "Open Element" which can search through classes, methods, variables, etc. This is a lot faster than using the Java Search feature. It would be a great enhancement for JDT.

It is not there yet. See bug 221291 as well.

I would also go for a common 'Open Element' Dialog instead of having separate dialogs for type, method, field etc (that is if we decide to implement this).
