Currently, the TmfExperiment index is rebuilt every time an experiment is selected, which can be time consuming when large traces are involved.

This is already partly mitigated by making the indexing a background request but it could be further improved by persisting the index.

This doesn't apply to streaming.

Closed as duplicate of bug 315883 as the implementation should be generic.

Removed as a blocking dependency on bug 301614.
