Created attachment 170428 [details] Stacktrace I've noticed recently that network access seemed slow while using Windows 7, and when I've suspended the VM to investigate WinHttpProxyProvider and WinHttp have been the cause. The problem seems to only occur when Eclipse is set to Native, and Windows has no proxy configured. (Native is the default setting) For example when exporting the p2 AdminUI RCP application if the proxy setting is Direct an export requires a few minutes, if the setting is switched to Native an export requires more than an hour to complete. I've attached a stack trace from midway through an export.
Could you please take a look and see what is going on there? It looks like this has been the cause of several p2 issues in the past where ppl have been mentioning freeze of their network stack and so on.
Pawel, please take a look at it.
I've checked it on 32-bit Windows 7 Professional. The code seems to work well, calls to native proxy code return immediately. However the machine I performed tests on is in the internal network so I couldn't perform a full update or a similar operation. Matthew, please provide more information on your environment. Do you see freezes when calling getNonProxiedHostsUnsynchronized method of WinHttpProxyProvider in a self-hosted Eclipse? Adding Stefan to CC, he provided native sources for Windows.
I know of delays that can occur if WPAD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_Proxy_Autodiscovery_Protocol) has been enabled (network settings). Is this option enabled?

Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
