Description Raimund Jacob CLA 2010-05-26 11:00:02 EDT
Dear JGit Team!

I was trying to set up a shared git repository for some friends who only have (proxied) http access to the internet. We want to use the eGit Eclipse plugin.

The repository is protected by HTTP Basic Auth.

We had a pretty hard time setting up eGit and collecting "401 Authorization required" errors until we found this: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=296201#c1

Apparently HTTP Basic Auth is not impemented at all, even though the eGit wizard is happily asking for credentials (and ignoring them later).

I open this bug so that other people don't fall into this trap. Please implement basic auth or at least disable the credential input fields in eGit :)

Thanks,
  Raimund

Same here. Would be very happy if the provided credentials would be used by the plugin ...
