Description Torkild Resheim CLA 2010-05-21 09:46:49 EDT
Having for instance Mylyn showing up in the "Popular" tab when it's already installed is just a waste of space. I think it should be filtered out.

In RC1, solutions that have already been installed will show up in the list but have an 'Uninstall' button. I personally like this solution, since people might start to ask why something isn't listed, when they already have it installed.

If you agree, please close.

Well I'm a bit unsure. Imagine an installation where all the top 6 solutions are already installed. In this case the "Popular" tab would show only installed items and the tab would not be of much use.

This is consistent with how other app stores work (eg: Android Market, iPhone App Store)

In part this is a technical problem: without sending the server the installation profile of the client, it's impossible to filter installed solutions server-side. Filtering installed solutions client-side is also problematic because you'd end up with searches that complete successfully that display no results.

I suggest that we close this one as won't fix.

The project team has agreed that it is important to keep Installed solutions listed but show then as Installed.
