Description Chris Holmes CLA 2010-05-20 12:56:13 EDT
ECL provides services to allow elements within one model to be compared to elements within another model (the models don't have to conform to the same underlying metamodel). The comparison performed by ECL is 'shallow' insofar as there must be two elements to compare (one from each model). However, structural comparisons must be performed separately, e.g. via an EOL operation, resulting in a two-pass approach. EMF Compare, however, provides the ability to perform both 'shallow' and structural comparisons, hence the integration of ECL with EMF Compare would provide a one-pass solution to the problem.

Discussed with Dimitris 20-May-2010.
