Description Steffen Pingel CLA 2010-05-18 16:38:24 EDT
As documented at http://wiki.eclipse.org/Mylyn_Integrator_Reference#Deciding_on_a_version Mylyn 3.4 and any 3.4.x service releases that are part of Eclipse Helios will be the last Mylyn versions with support for Eclipse 3.4 . In addition Eclipse 3.5 and 3.6 will be supported. The next Mylyn release following 3.4 will support Eclipse 3.5, 3.6 and 3.7 milestones (also see bug 280832 for general background on Mylyn's support for different Eclipse version).

Please comment on this bug if there are any concerns with ending support for Eclipse 3.4.

Currently the RTC client is based on Eclipse 3.4 and therefore we may need to continue this support. Does anyone have a sense when they will move to 3.5 or higher?
Comment 2 Steffen Pingel CLA 2010-06-08 21:37:55 EDT
Rob, can you confirm that? Eclipse 3.4 compatibility is the only reason we need to maintain separate branches, map files etc. If we could avoid that the release related releng processes would get significantly simpler.
Comment 3 Steffen Pingel CLA 2010-06-11 19:18:47 EDT
From a conversation with Rob it sounds like RTC will not block Mylyn from moving off 3.4.

I suggest that we phase out 3.4 support after the Helios release and merge the 3.5 branch into head. That way we don't need to maintain separate builds and map files etc. We will still have the option to bring back 3.4 support if needed.

Support for 3.4 has been deprecated and removed from the build. Related restructuring of update sites is tracked on bug 317913.
