Issues with the provisioning system goes to Equinox/p2. Platform/IDE is for generic IDE-related bugs such as the 'Problems' view.
If you have a proxy in your environment, please make sure that the proxy settings in eclipse are set accordingly. Also, since 3.4.1 many things have changed in p2, and it would be great if you could see if 3.6 (which is now about to be released) helps. For example you can try http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/S-3.6M7-201004291549/index.php

For example you can > try > http://download.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/S-3.6M7-201004291549/index.php It appears that this does work just fine in 3.6M7 (which I had previously downloaded). However, it would be great if you had a work-around for this problem in 3.4. The connection Settings dialog box has the "Use system proxy settings" radio button checked under "Advanced->Configure proxies to access the internet". ifconfig -a eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 18:A9:05:B5:0B:04 inet addr:3.232.243.181 Bcast:255.255.255.255 Mask:255.255.252.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:576 Metric:1 RX packets:1424005 errors:303 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:303 TX packets:13402 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:116251157 (110.8 Mb) TX bytes:1419885 (1.3 Mb) Interrupt:17 lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:22 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:22 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:1476 (1.4 Kb) TX bytes:1476 (1.4 Kb) vboxnet0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 0A:00:27:00:00:00 BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
I'm sorry Scott, but there is almost zero chance of seeing anything for this on the 3.4.x stream. You could try setting the proxy information manually instead of using the system settings, but I'm not sure if this would help. The thing also here is that we don't know for sure your setup so it is hard to help to guide you. Closing as fixed, but we can continue the discussion.
