Am I the only one that finds this counterintuitive? A checkout is a pretty drastic operation and while it seems pretty speedy with Git, I'm not sure I agree with this behaviour.

Looks like no one else is objections. And we go a long way to avoid data loss due to inadvertent checkouts...
