Its possible to DnD artifact from unrelated project to a class diagram in another project. The result is a corrupted artifact displayed in the class diagram.

Looks like the last GMF update changed the logic :-(.
I think we had it wrong in the past, this now seems more sensible.

Fixed for Class Diagrams. Looking in InstanceDiags as I suspect the pb is the same.
