A few people raised concerns that it's not clear what "Http authentication" is for.

Having talked to Rob Elves, I assume that it's used by all Connectors as a pre-authentication mechanism, when a task repository is fronted by a web server which requires pre-authentication.

I think we could include such information in this section.
Out tech writer drafted such proposal:

---------
"HTTP Authentication is used by the Atlassian Connector for Eclipse, if your JIRA server sits behind a web server that requires additional authentication first. The username and password below are used to authenticate against the web server only, not your JIRA server. You still need to enter a username and password for your JIRA server above, if you are using HTTP authentication."

Change the labels of the textboxes in the "HTTP Authentication" panel as follows:
"Username" -> "Web Server Username"
"Password" -> "Web Server Password"
---------

Of course to make it product agnostic, we could change JIRA to "task repository" and "Atlassian Connector for Eclipse" to "Mylyn Connector".
Alternatively this text (or whole SWT Composite) could be injected by given Task Repository (via extension points or by a new protected method in AbstractRepositoryConnectorUi).

What do you think?

Reproducible: Always

That sounds like a good idea. Rob, any thoughts on the text?

Mylyn has been restructured, and our issue tracking has moved to GitHub [1].

We are closing ~14K Bugzilla issues to give the new team a fresh start. If you feel that this issue is still relevant, please create a new one on GitHub.
