when i search for 'occerrences in file' there's not feedback, no progress
monitor, not even a busy cursor.

for a second or two everytime i'm not sure if it's actually performning the
requested operation or ignored me.

We set a busy cursor but due to a bug in SWT the busy cursor isn't shown on a
styled text. For example if you do it in the outline or package explorer you
see a busy cursor. For details see bug 6325.
