When I tried to install anything new to Eclipse via the Install new Software... dialog it forced me to install an update for Mylyn with no option to not update it.

Also look at bug #311319

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install a clean copy of Eclipse (Java package for example)
2. Install anything from the Install new Software... dialog.
3. It will also force you to update Mylyn.

This problem has been fixed in 3.6. The 3.5 optimization function tries to update everything which causes this sort of behaviour.
