When choosing the menu "Window"->"Preferences" one can paste "type filter text" with the middle/third mouse button to an xterm.

Also "File"->"New"->"PHP File" from PDT will result in the selections buffer containing "newfile", since this is the selected text in the "File Name" input box conatining "newfile.php".

This particularly sucks when you selected text for inserting into a dialog input. You end up inserting some other text and the main window is locked, so you can't re-select the text from it.

I filed this bug, because it is probably not a duplicate of 290851 .
The initial comment focuses on the "editor component", which, I thought, does not include dialogs.
Comment 4 Praveen CLA 2009-11-30 08:20:14 EST
From the problem statement of this bug, I understand that the automated selected text in the dialogs overrides the Primary selection (text selected by the user - either in the editor, or other app). Please correct me if I am wrong.
Even the comment#4 of bug 290851 describe about the loss of primary selection buffer due to dialog's automated selected text. So, this has been marked as a duplicate of bug#290851.

Praveen, you are right. My apologies.
