Description Szymon Brandys CLA 2009-11-19 05:50:36 EST
I have Eclipse SDK installed by p2Agent. I updated to 3.6.0.I20091118 and the splash screen doesn't show up.

Can you attach your eclipse.ini and bundles.info files?

Andrew, I can't tell if this is a problem with the launcher failing to find the splash, or whether our paths are messed up somewhere. They look reasonable to me, but it's a very unusual setup.

This is really bug 274127 (or bug 222260 which is a dupe).

The argument
-showsplash
org.eclipse.platform
tells the launcher to look for
/<launcher_dir>/plugins/org.eclipse.platform_*
and find the highest platform and take the splash from there.

When the bundles are in a bundle pool, this obviously doesn't work.

We really need for the eclipse.ini to have the full location of the splash screen.
-showsplash
../bundlePool-3.6/plugins/org.eclipse.platform_<version>

(I believe even "../bundlePool-3.6/plugins/org.eclipse.platform" would work, but this runs into the problem we saw with the movember splash in bug 295402)
