The statistics view currently accumulates the information in its data model as experiments are opened,
reflecting statistics for traces not related to the same experiment.

the data needs to be cleared every time a new experiment is selected, and alllow accummulation of data for different traces within the same experiment.

Statistics are not re-computed when an experiment is re-opened.

Since we are not dealing with steaming yet, it is OK (and efficient) to compute the trace statistics on the first experiment selection and to re-use them on subsequent selections.

When streaming comes in, this will likely be impacted.
