Description Pascal Rapicault CLA 2009-09-29 23:33:58 EDT
3.5 / 3.6
When checking for updates from the "installed software" tab in the about dialog, the search for update is proceeding in the UI thread (or at least I have the busy cursor). Rather than staying in the foreground, what about sending closing the about dialog and sending the search in the background much like the "help > Check for updates" work.

hmmm...something has regressed here :-(
I recall specifically adding protocol to the platform install details dialog to support closing the containing dialogs so that the job progress could be reported.

consider for M5, we will not be out of the API reorg branch for M4.

I've been wanting to get to this bug for some time now, but the API work and regressions associated with that have prevented me. Moving to M6.

punting to M7 as my plate runneth over with API-freeze bugs.

fixed in HEAD >20100414.
I fixed this last week (and wrote a rather lengthy explanation of the problem) but apparently the comment never went through...

verified in 20100425-2000, Win7.
Checking for updates brings up the jobs progress monitor dialog.
