The 'Work with' entry box is initially populated with 'type or select a site'. If one clicks in the entry box, this value must be edited. (If one types immediately, the 'type or select a site' is wiped out because it is selected). The initial state of this entry box should be like the filter box where the hint text it contains is erased as soon as the focus is in the entry box.
In the filtered text boxes the initial text is also lighter. We should probably strive for consistency here. This is a fairly minor point IMHO.
Undoubtedly minor (perhaps trivial). The reason I noticed it is that (I think) the selection overrides a prior X windows selection, and therefore interferes with pasting a URL (from a broswer window).
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
This is still the case with the latest version of Eclipse, even though a fairly minor annoyance this bug is still relevant.
I wanted to try contributing this. I performed a fresh check out of Equinox P2 using Oomph, but when launching the project as an Eclipse Application to experiment with things, I cannot open the install new software dialog. The following message pops up: "The installation has not been configured properly for Software Updates.". In the error logs: "Could not locate the running profile instance. The eclipse.p2.data.area and eclipse.p2.profile properties may not be set correctly in this application's config.ini file.". Any clues?
On the Configuration tab, you have to enable "Support software installation in the launched application".
(In reply to Ed Merks from comment #6) > On the Configuration tab, you have to enable "Support software installation > in the launched application". Thanks, that did the trick! Will give this bug a shot. Probably too late for 4.15 though.
