Description Matěj Cepl CLA 2009-06-02 08:17:15 EDT
I am a bugmaster for Red Hat and as such as I see A LOT of bugs a day and most of the time I browse through huge queries. Of course I prefer using keyboard for almost everything, and currently I miss these two (or maybe three) key shortcuts:

Previous/Next bug in the current query
Submit ... that's probably quite controversial, so I am not fighting too hard for this one.

Take a look at the user guide: http://wiki.eclipse.org/Mylyn/User_Guide#Shortcuts. You can submit bugs from the editor using Alt+Shift+S (or Alt+S in the latest weekly build). You might also be interested in: http://wiki.eclipse.org/Mylyn/User_Guide#Incoming_Changes

Please reopen if that doesn't satisfy your requirements or file additional bugs for more specific key-binding requirements.

Looking at the user guide and I cannot find a method how to proceed with this simple scenario just using keyboard without touching a mouse:

1) open bug in the task list
2) do something to it (here I would allow mouse for scrolling etc)
3) Press Alt+Shift+S to submit it
4) close the current bug
5) jump to next next unread bug
6) open it

Let me repeat, except for step 2, no mouse could be touched and if possibly just as few as possible keys should be used.

OK, I discovered Alt+Shift+Q,K (that's terrible combination, but whatever), so I made some progress. Let's close it and I will try whether I can survive without mouse.

We could consider adding additional commands, e.g. Open Next Unread Task. These commands wouldn't need to be bound to shortcuts by default but the shortcut would be configurable in the preferences. Do you have other actions of that sort that you frequently do?

I think more than a particular commands is better to think about use cases ... like me, a bug triager who browse through huge bugzilla queries all the time. I will try to think about something.

Mylyn has been restructured, and our issue tracking has moved to GitHub [1].

We are closing ~14K Bugzilla issues to give the new team a fresh start. If you feel that this issue is still relevant, please create a new one on GitHub.
