The synchronizations icons are some of the most prominent graphics in the Mylyn UI. After the fall Mylyn UI review with the UI best practices working group we identified green as a good candidate color for the black/gray outgoing icons.
Done.

Wow, just saw the results of this work and from a user's perspective you really notice this change immediately. So far I like it, it gives the UI a more friendly feel whereas the older color contributed to making the UI look more industrial.
Good to hear. However, I'm a bit hot and cold on this. I just don't know if it's a significant enough improvement in order to justify diverging from the color scheme used by the Synchronize view.
I am slightly cold since the blue and green seem too close together and it makes them harder to distinguish.
I noticed that as well. Tried to make the green darker, but it's hard to make it dark enough and still look green.

I like the idea of getting rid or the gray arrows and the green looks really good on the submit button. I find that in the task list it conflicts with the color for completed tasks which after a day of usage still confuses me.

I experimented some more with changing the green. But I'm concerned that this was not a sufficient improvement over the black/gray arrows to warrant deviating from the color scheme used by the Synchronize view, which is a regular part of the workflow of developers using Mylyn. We can still use the green color for upload/download/submit elsewhere in the UI, and revisit the coloring, but I reverted the change for now and made a slight tweak to the outgoing arrow's tail.
