linux-motif jars are not included in delta pack (3.5M6) ->Exporting for this platform fails in Eclipse.
Linux motif is not a supported platform for 3.5. See http://www.eclipse.org/projects/project-plan.php?projectid=eclipse#target_environments
Hi Kim, Thanks for this information. Ok this platform is not supported, but it's provided as a separate download and listed in eclipse targets (Export) so I don't see why it can not be included in the delta pack. In addition jnlp export generates a file with the motif jar as a mandatory resource on linux / x86. In order to make everything work together we can : - remove linux-motif from target platforms in Export and from the resulting jnlp file - provide the jar in delta pack. - tell the user that if he wants to generate a webstart application that runs on linux, he must download the delta pack + eclipseSDK-linux-motif OR edit the jnlp file manually. All of this is currently undocumented. If you really think that linux-motif should not be included in the delta pack, please move this bug to PDE.
The linux motif drop on our download page is only there for testing purposes. SWT's aix machine died and they needed a way to test the motif libraries. If a platform isn't being actively tested, we don't like to provide it on the download page because this means that there will inevitably be bugs that we aren't seeing due to the lack of testing. I'm going to move this bug to PDE. The question is why does the product export allow you to select platforms that we no longer support in the current development plan such as linux.motif.x86?
The list of platforms available for multi-platform exports is based on the contents of org.eclipse.equinox.executable/bin If we want to remove platforms from the export list, please raise a bug at equinox/framework
Moving to Equinox
If we removed this would we make more people mad than happy? I can see the bug report now asking why it got removed.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
We have removed the extra launchers from our downloads for a while now.
