Description Prakash Rangaraj CLA Friend 2009-03-26 00:23:58 EDT
I've been using Project Explorer as my main view instead of Package Explorer. Apart from the performance, here are some bugs I found.

(1) Closed projects have + (ideally closed projects should not be expandable. Once you click the project, the + goes off)
(2) When working sets are the top elements, Link with Editor doesn't work
(3) Double clicking a closed project doesn't open it (while Navigator & Package Explorer does)
(4) It would be nice to have the recently used filters in the pull down menu. When I wanted to show/hide the closed projects, using the filter is just two click away with Package Explorer. But I've open a dialog to do that in Project Explorer

CVS Decorations

Few more:

 (5) The context menu of Working Set doesn't contain items like New, Import,Export, Refresh, Open Project etc.
 (6) The CVS label decorations are not working for all the projects (screenshot attached)

Can you characterize the performance issues you have a little?

> Can you characterize the performance issues you have a little?
I *feel* that the drilling down in package explorer is actually faster than drilling down in Project Explorer (esp when Working Sets is the root element) Otherwise I don't see any major changes.

> (2) When working sets are the top elements, Link with Editor doesn't work

Update on this item. When you open an editor by double clicking in the view, then Link with Editor works. But if you have opened the editor by any other means (like by Open Type dialog or Ctrl clicking from another editor), it doesn't work

Break point working sets

When I add a breakpoint working set to the Project Explorer, it shows an error for the label provider. When tried the same with Package Explorer, it simply ignores the children of it

I have the same issue here.
You can see the problem that i have on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZWlOm9A9pk

I'm going to close because we need separate bug reports for each problem. I have identified either existing bug reports, or verified that issues are fixed for all but two of your items:

1) CVS decorators not appearing
2) Having a breakpoint working set causes problems.

Please file separate bug reports for these two issues.

(There is also a separate bug report that identifies performance issues as well)

In the future if you would be so kind as to open a separate bug report for each issue you have, that would be much appreciated.

(1) Closed projects have + (ideally closed projects should not be expandable.
Once you click the project, the + goes off)
> Was fixed a while ago, 3.6M6 does not have this problem.

(2) When working sets are the top elements, Link with Editor doesn't work
Update on this item. When you open an editor by double clicking in the view,
then Link with Editor works. But if you have opened the editor by any other
means (like by Open Type dialog or Ctrl clicking from another editor), it
doesn't work
> This works correctly in 3.6M6

(3) Double clicking a closed project doesn't open it (while Navigator & Package
Explorer does)
> bug 210837

(4) It would be nice to have the recently used filters in the pull down menu.
When I wanted to show/hide the closed projects, using the filter is just two
click away with Package Explorer. But I've open a dialog to do that in Project
Explorer

(5) The context menu of Working Set doesn't contain items like New,
