Unlike in Publisher.loadArtifactRepository, loadMetadataRepository ignores the removeFromManager argument. This looks very much like a bug.

P.S.: Currently I'm reading the code to understand the Publisher, did I miss any documentation? The wiki is still only talking about the metadata generator...

No, you haven't missed any documentation.  I will be writing this once we get through all these M7 bugs.  See bug 248509.
