Description Andreas tum Suden CLA 2009-03-12 04:07:11 EDT
We use the wikitext component in some of our own eclipse plugins. For the build environment it would be comfortable to integrate the wikitext feature via a separate update-site. Especially because the standalone wikitext jars doesn't contain the wikitext.ui plugin.

Thanks for the feature request. Can you please elaborate on your needs? Some specific questions:

# Are you looking for a WikiText feature that can install without dependencies on Mylyn?
# Are you concerned about using the current Mylyn update site because it provides features that your users don't need?

In the first case, we may be able to consider providing a WikiText feature that provides all of WikiText without the Mylyn components

First of all, I've tried to install the wikitext plugins via downloading the mylyn plugins and via the mylyn update-site. After doing that I couldn't find the wikitext plugins anywhere in my workbench. So the only way to get the wikitext plugins are the standalone jars (without *.wikitext.ui) , or the eclipse repository. Maybe I'm doing something wrong(?)

To answer to your questions. Currently we are using the wikitext feature to support formatted free text description, e.g. for documentation of emf model elements.
Our build environment is set up with Buckminster. To integrate the wikitext plugins it would be much more comfortable to link to a separate update-site that provides the needed features.

Thanks for your help, Andreas

Were you able to complete the installation process? What were you looking for in your workbench that you couldn't find?

The update site is the preferred way to install WikiText into Eclipse. The stand-alone download is for use of WikiText outside of an Eclipse runtime, for example when running Ant tasks.

Perhaps you could provide the steps you took to perform the installation, the version of Eclipse that you're using, and the URL of the update site.

The existing update site should serve that purpose. On Tuesday the 17th Mylyn 3.1 will be released at which point WikiText will be available on the standard Mylyn update site. Before then, WikiText is only available on the Mylyn Weekly update site.

Ok, now I got the problem. I've used the mylyn standard update-site/package. It wasn't obvious to me that WikiText is only available within the incubator update-site/package. So, tomorrow the problem will be solved anyway. Thanks
