Hi, our new committer Marc Blanchon at the JWT project tries to upload his first development to the CVS, but the CVS told him: jwt-we: cvs [server aborted]]: "add" requires write access to the repository. I'm sure I assigned him write access to the CVS, so I am astonished that it does not work now. Alas there is no possibility on the Portal to see which committer has what kind of rights, so I could check it myself again. So the purpose of this bug is twofold: - (more generic): ask whether it would be possible to have an area in the Portal where project leads can see which committer has what kind of rights - (more specific): give Marc Blanchon write access to CVS. I'm not able to assign this bug to two areas (CVS and Portal), therefore I start with the CVS bug and maybe open up another bug for the Portal component afterwards. Thanks for your assistance and best regards, Florian
Marc has found that it was a misconfiguration of his own PC, so he got the correct permissions :-/. That's why the specific part of this bug can be resolved as fixed and I changed it to the component Portal in order to discuss the more generic part.
Renaming to reflect status change and adding dependency on bug 198541 which is a pre-requisite of making this functionality available in the Portal.
As of the 2010 revision of the EDP, all committers on a project should have uniform access to all project resources. AFAIK, most--if not all--of our projects are conforming. Any exceptions to this rule are mistakes that should be brought to the attention of the webmaster for resolution. Since all committers have uniform access to all resources, the committer list shown on the project summary/info pages provides the information required. This committer list functionality will be included in the new Project Management Infrastructure (see Bug 363868). Given that this was a legitimate issue that has been resolved (albeit in a different manner than was suggested), I'm going to resolve this bug as FIXED.
