Created attachment 122075 [details] Screen shot While smoke testing WTP http://build.eclipse.org/webtools/committers/wtp-R3.1-I/20090108074838/I-3.1-20090108074838/ Brand new installation. 1.I have reported bug 260508 2.I have selected Window->preference->XDoclet and configured XDoclet. 3.I have selected Window->Preference->Server and an error dialog is shown with the message "Unable to create the selected preference page. An error occurred while automatically activating bundle org.eclipse.wst.server.ui (558)" Screenshot attached. I have restarted eclipse and started it with -console to check the reason for the problem. This time the Server preference is open correctly.
Reproduced by extracting the archives again.
Is the full exception available in the .log?
Created attachment 122113 [details] Error log The error log contains other errors also.
Server core hasn't changed and looking at the log, the underlying problem is down in the plugin descriptor: java.lang.LinkageError: loader constraint violation in interface itable initialization: when resolving method "org.eclipse.core.internal.plugins.PluginDescriptor.getPlugin() This problem already happened in org.eclipse.ui.internal.introview too, so it is lower level. Moving down to platform core as a start, not sure which team this should end up with.
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
