- Insert a .doc file in one of your project
The icon displayed in the navigator is the Microsoft Word icon
- Go to Preferences > Workbenck > File Associations
Insert a new type *.doc
Select an external editor. For example, 'Text Document', which has a different 
icon.

The bug is that the icon in the navigator for the .doc file does not reflect 
the change. However, double-clicking on the .doc correctly brings up the new 
editor, not Word.

Restart Eclipse. The icon is correctly updated.
