Steps To Reproduce:
If you search in the Update manager this takes very long. I believe this is because you are downloading online the available packages. 

For most purposes I assume the user wants to search the existing packages. Can you somehow buffer the elements? Or can you add an explicit search button. Currently you are checking the search after each keystroke which makes it difficult to type in a longer search term.
