+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #234484 +++ When checking the fix for bug 218197 I noticed that if the view that goes away is the only view in a Detached Window stack then on the restart you get an 'empty' DW. While you can hit the red 'x' and have the shell go away it'll reappear if you switch out of the perspective and back again. The problem seems to be that the control for removing a DW from the ShellPool is handled in the 'hideView' command (so it never gets invoked if the stack has no views). The more general issue is that the close handling code seems to want to handle everything in 'hideView' (that's also where the prompting to save dirty views was as well. We have another defect against our fix for that...
Clone for 3.5 work...
Moving to triage (for now), we should likely re-target this for 3.6 when it becomes available as part of the overall DW 'close' issues (which all stem from the DW being closed currently -only- through 'hideView'...??
*** Bug 301661 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. -- The automated Eclipse Genie.
